NYFW Day 4 Outfit

Channeling my inner Wednesday Addams, I wore one of my favorite dresses to NYFW. It's hard to resist anything made of luscious velvet and the touch of lace sleeves peeking out makes for a perfect mix of romantic and grunge. The original form of this dress actually came down to my ankles so I had to alter it in order to avoid looking like a priest. On another note, I'm back in Los Angeles and getting serious New York withdrawals.

NYFW - Mara Hoffman

I spy Lil Kim!

And lastly, Mara Hoffman herself. SO adorable.
If New York Fashion Week had an award for the most adorable fashion show, Mara Hoffman would be the winner without a doubt. As the show began with a trio playing the ukelele, it almost felt like I was drifting off to a tropical resort away from the Fashion Week frenzy that we were in the middle of. Colorful prints and bralettes were prevalent in the collection and the awesome palm tree headpieces which I'm seriously considering making, added to the exotic feel of the show. Although sweet and summery, Mara Hoffman kept the look from getting too precious with fierce sunglasses and bold cutouts (personal favorite).
The collection makes me want to purposefully have an excuse to go on a cruise or lounge by the beaches in Hawaii. Mara Hoffman definitely wins in the cuteness factor and also for having the best playlist.

Playlist

- "Manhattan" - Cat Power
- "Without You" - Rainbow Arabia
- "Wave of Mutilation" - Pixies

New York Fashion Week continued - Nicole Miller

Chloe Norgaard

Probably being one of my favorite shows this week, Nicole Miller's collection was nothing short of an eyegasm. It was an explosion of surrealism, girly and tribal gone edgy down the runway, almost like seeing abstract art on fabric. I may be being biased since I'm such a sucker for flowy fabric but the prints aside, the material was just as beautiful.
Mostly, I couldn't get over how amazing Chloe Norgaard's rainbow hair was (third photo). Can the hairstylist who did this please turn my hair into My Little Pony tips?

Tennis

LOVE Rebecca Minkoff (Of course my camera would act funny when I need it most.
My photos do not do justice of how amazing Rebecca Minkoff's collection was! Extra points for Tennis performing for the show.)
As I arrived in New York late evening, I missed New York's infamous Fashion's Night Out festivities.
Day 2 definitely made up for the lack of action the previous day as running around for NYFW drained my energy by the end of the day.Walter Baker's Spring 2013 presentation featured bright and eclectic prints. The models wearing headphones with dance music blasting in the room only added to his fresh, youthful collection.
The shows were amazing as ever and it was just as entertaining to style stalk the Fashion Week attendees.
Next post- Nicole Miller.
More updates coming throughout the day! Check back soon :)

Au Revoir Los Angeles

I will be leaving for New York Fashion Week tomorrow and I am beyond excited.
Of course, being the extreme procrastinator that I am, I'm scrambling for last minute packing with the essentials of my Diana F+ and Sylvia Plath to keep me company on the plane.
Keep checking back for updates from New York Fashion Week! :)

The September Issue

Sea Wolf - Middle Distance Runner

(Brandy & Melville tank, Brandy bralette, Thrifted scarf made into skirt,
Jeffrey Campbell Lita Spike)
Tired of seeing this floppy hat yet? I love the 60s inspired wide brim and most importantly, the versatility of the hat. It'll definitely be making an appearance again so I hope you guys grow fond of it as much as I have! For this post, I was inspired by New York based designer, Nicole Miller's Wanderlust Fall 12 Lookbook. I added my own personal style to it, incorporating casual sunny Los Angeles influence. The tank has scoops down pretty low so I took the chance to show off the three strap bralette from Brandy & Melville. (Also, it's beyond hot in LA which means going out fully covered = impossible.) The eclectic vintage florals against the desert landscape definitely mesmerized the wanderlust within me. Looking forward to her Spring 2013 sci-fi collection! As September is rolling in, so are the exponentially increasing tweets about Fashion's Night Out and New York Fashion Week. In the documentary The September Issue, Candy Pratts says, "September is the January in Fashion." The anticipated week of magic in which designers display brilliant collections and new trends leaves you fueling with inspiration (and eventually empty wallets).
